Munteanu Eugen

Eugen Munteanu is a Romanian linguist and a current Professor at the Faculty of Letters, Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iași. He also serves as the coordinating director of the Biblical-Philological Research Center 'Monumenta linguae Dacoromanorum' and is a research fellow at the Alexandru Philippide Institute of Romanian Philology (Romanian Academy).

Education:

• Graduated with honors from the Faculty of Letters, Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iași, in 1978.

Research Interests: Munteanu's work focuses on biblical philology, historical lexicology, and philosophy of language. His scholarship spans semantics, Romanian philology, classical philology, lexicography, and language contacts, with a strong emphasis on theoretical and historical linguistic frameworks.

Labs & Affiliations: He coordinates the 'Monumenta linguae Dacoromanorum' research center and maintains a research fellowship at the Alexandru Philippide Institute of Romanian Philology, part of the Romanian Academy. Additionally, he is a member of the Academy of Europe since 2024.
