Güvenç’s work highlights how state centralization reshapes cities through housing policies, demolition practices, and the politicization of local governance. Her book The City is Ours (Cornell UP, 2024) exemplifies this, linking spatial interventions to political domination. She is affiliated with the Crown Center for Middle East Studies and contributes to interdisciplinary urban research.
