Mukesh Jain, the Frank L. Day Professor of Biology and Professor of Molecular Biology, Cell Biology and Biochemistry at Brown University, is an internationally renowned physician-scientist and Dean of Medicine and Biological Sciences. His research focuses on Kruppel-like factors (KLFs) in cardiovascular biology, innate immunity, and metabolism. He previously served as chief academic officer at University Hospitals in Cleveland and vice dean for medical sciences at Case Western Reserve University.
- BS in Biochemistry from State University of New York at Buffalo (1987)
- MD from University at Buffalo School of Medicine (1991)
Research Interests: Jain's work establishes KLFs as critical transcription factors regulating vascular homeostasis, myeloid cell development, and metabolic processes across species. His studies reveal KLFs' roles in nutrient acquisition, inter-organ flux, and longevity, positioning them as therapeutic targets for vascular and immuno-metabolic disorders.
Scientific Recognition: He has been elected to prestigious organizations including the National Academy of Medicine (2016), Association of University Cardiologists (2011), and Association of American Physicians (2009). His leadership in academia includes founding the Physician-Scientist Support Foundation in 2017.
