Mukesh Goel

Dr. Mukesh Goel is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Engineering and Built Environment, part of the College of Business, Technology and Engineering at Sheffield Hallam University. He joined in 2019 with 16 years of teaching and research experience, alongside two years of industrial work. His expertise spans thermochemical processes, wastewater treatment, anaerobic digestion, and simulation modeling. He teaches Chemical Engineering modules including Reaction Engineering, Thermodynamics, and Process Control.

Dr. Goel holds an M.Eng from the National University of Singapore (NUS) and a PhD from IIT Delhi, with research conducted at University Lyon 1 and INSA Lyon. He has published 47 journal papers, 26 conference papers, and four book chapters. His work includes highly cited research on sonochemical engineering and wastewater treatment innovations. He currently supervises five PhD students and has guided 30 postgraduate and numerous undergraduate students.

His research focuses on bioenergy, emerging contaminants removal, and gasification modeling. He leads projects like the South Yorkshire Sustainability Centre (Co-I, £1.25M) and waste heat recovery studies (IETF-funded). Collaborators include Cranfield University, TU Delft, and Nanyang Technological University. He reviews for journals like Journal of Hazardous Materials and Water Research.

Dr. Goel's teaching spans Energy, Infrastructure & Environment programs, including courses in Environmental Engineering and Sustainable Engineering. His work integrates industrial collaboration through technical reports for companies like Hubert Enviro Care Systems. Professional affiliations include the Institution of Engineering and Technology (CEng) and the International Congress of Chemistry and Environment.
