Muhammad Arif Khan

Dr Muhammad Arif Khan is a Senior Lecturer in Computing at Charles Sturt University (Australia), affiliated with the Data Science and Engineering Research Unit and Cyber Security Research Group. He holds a PhD in Electronic Engineering from Macquarie University (Sydney) and has over 20 years' experience in academia and industry.

• Education: BEng (Electrical Engineering, UET Lahore), MEng (Electronic Engineering, GIK Institute), PhD (Electronic Engineering, Macquarie University)
• Roles: Former Course Director for IT/Computing (2015-2018), Member of IEEE

Research Focus: Vehicular ad-hoc networks (VANETs), cyber security for IoT systems, machine learning applications in communication systems, and 5G technology optimization. His work addresses challenges in LP-IoT device security, channel estimation for constrained networks, and ransomware detection mechanisms.

Awards & Grants: Recipient of Excellence Award (2024) and multiple research grants including automated ML-based IoT vulnerability detection systems and cyber security infrastructure projects. His work has been cited over 600 times with an h-index of 12.

Labs/Teams: Active contributor to Charles Sturt's Cyber Security Research Group (CSRG) and Advanced Network Research Group (ANRG), collaborating internationally on projects related to smart city infrastructure and wireless communication security.
