Mourad Latati

Prof. Mourad Latati is an agro-physiologist at the University of Skikda (Algeria), specializing in cropping systems design and agroecological modeling. His research focuses on nitrogen fixation in intercropping systems, water use efficiency, and the application of digital tools like the STICS model to enhance Mediterranean agriculture resilience.

During his FIAS fellowship (2024-2025) at Montpellier’s AIDA and Eco&Sols units, he collaborates with INRAE/CIRAD researchers to advance intercropping models and promote crop diversification. Key projects include STICS-intercrop model development and assessing climate impacts on Mediterranean farming systems.

Research interests span agroforestry, precision agriculture, and sustainable pest management. Notable contributions include modeling human health risks in intercropping systems and co-designing diversified cropping frameworks with farmers.
