Dr. Mostafa Shartaj is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Agribusiness and Agricultural Economics at the University of Manitoba, Canada. He is affiliated with the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences at the Fort Garry campus, located at 372 Agriculture Building, 66 Dafoe Road, Winnipeg, MB R3T 2N2, Canada.
Education: Dr. Shartaj holds a PhD in Agricultural and Resource Economics from Colorado State University, United States. He also earned an MSc in Economics and a BBA in Finance and Economics (Dual Major) from North South University, Bangladesh.
Research Interests: His research spans Agricultural Economics, Environmental Economics, and Natural Resource Economics. He employs natural and quasi-experimental methods to assess the impact of policies and programs, with active projects on groundwater use in public lands, adoption of conservation practices in agriculture, non-market valuation, and outdoor recreation in US National Forests.
Publications Overview: Dr. Shartaj’s recent publications reflect a strong focus on applied economics in environmental and agricultural contexts. His work addresses pressing issues such as invasive species management, groundwater depletion, wildlife conflict management, and recreation demand during the COVID-19 pandemic.
