Morwenna Spear

Dr. Morwenna Spear is a Research Fellow at the University of Wales, Bangor, specializing in wood modification and natural fiber composites. She is actively involved in projects related to biogenic carbon, phenolic resin treatments, and thermal modification of timber species.

• Education: Doctor of Philosophy (2002) and BSc (1997) from University of Wales, Bangor

Her research explores enhancing wood properties through chemical and physical treatments, including phenol urea formaldehyde resin and laser incision. She investigates dimensional stability, cell wall diffusion, and carbon sequestration in harvested wood products.

Recent publications analyze wood recycling, resin optimization, and greenhouse gas mitigation in construction. Notable achievements include 2015 Fellowship from the Institute of Materials Minerals and Mining (IOM3).
