Morten Bøgelund Pedersen is a Visiting Researcher at the Department of Clinical Research, University of Southern Denmark (KI, OUH), specifically affiliated with the Research unit of orthopaedic surgery in Odense. He is associated with the Faculty of Health Sciences and has an ORCID ID of 0000-0001-5691-5734. Currently completing his PhD thesis on biomechanical and metabolic impacts of body weight supported gait, he holds an MSc degree and maintains active research collaborations across multiple departments.
His primary research interests include:
- Meta-Analysis and Systematic Reviews
- Body Weight Supported Gait Training
- Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid Arthritis
- Quality of Life Assessment in Rehabilitation
- Gait Analysis and Orthopedic Biomechanics
- Neurological Gait Impairments
Pedersen's research integrates biomechanical analysis with clinical rehabilitation, focusing on evidence-based interventions for neurological and orthopedic conditions. His work spans from primary research on gait mechanics to high-level evidence synthesis through systematic reviews. Recent publications demonstrate expertise in stroke rehabilitation, idiopathic toe walking assessment, and biopsychosocial approaches to arthritis management, with multiple 2025 publications indicating active current research.
His work has gained significant academic attention, with publications being shared across multiple news outlets, social media platforms (including 7 X users), and academic networking sites (41 readers on Mendeley for one publication).
Pedersen has been actively involved in the TriDisciplinary Contexture for Motion, Technology and Humans (TRINITY) project (2020-2024), focusing on user development, training activities, and robotics applications for body weight support. He has also supervised research on bodyweight-unloading robotics for cerebral palsy patients, demonstrating his commitment to technological applications in rehabilitation.
