Dr. Morris Komakech is an Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing at Nipissing University, within the Faculty of Education and Professional Studies. He holds a PhD in health policy and equity from York University, alongside degrees in Physiotherapy, Nursing, and Public Health. His research focuses on health equity, social determinants of health, global health, and policy interventions to address health disparities among transient and immigrant populations. Dr. Komakech has extensive clinical experience as a physiotherapist in Uganda and as a Public Health Nurse in Toronto, where he was recognized for excellence in nursing student mentorship.

His current research includes a project on transient populations/climate refugees in Eastern Uganda and Western Kenya. Dr. Komakech has contributed to peer-reviewed journals and book chapters on topics such as health equity in Africa, HIV prevention interventions, and urban health disparities.
