Moro Salifu

Dr. Moro Salifu is a tenured Professor of Medicine and Chair of the Department of Medicine at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University, Brooklyn, NY. He also holds the Edwin C. and Anne K. Weiskopf Endowed Chair in Kidney Diseases and Hypertension.

His research focuses on vascular biology, particularly interactions between platelets, endothelial cells, and smooth muscle cells. This work led to the discovery of the human F11 receptor (F11R) and its antagonists, which show promise in preventing atherosclerosis and neointimal hyperplasia. He also conducts health disparities research with NIH funding.
