Moriah Kirdy is a Teaching Associate Professor in the Department of English and Associate Director of the William S. Dietrich II Institute for Writing Excellence at the University of Pittsburgh. She holds a PhD in English (Composition & Rhetoric) from the University of Pittsburgh and an MFA in Poetry from George Mason University.
Her research explores notebook-based information systems (e.g., commonplace books, bullet journals) and their role in mediating personal information through constrained writing mechanics. Key interests include rhetorical genre theory, material culture of writing, analog/digital methods, and affect theory. She teaches courses in composition, professional writing, and digital media pedagogy.
Her work emphasizes student-centered approaches, integrating disciplinary interests and career aspirations into writing projects. She co-organizes writing support programs for faculty and graduate students across disciplines.
