Morgan E. PettyJohn is an Assistant Professor in the School of Social Work at The University of Texas at Arlington. Their research focuses on preventing interpersonal violence, technology's role in survivor experiences, and men’s mental health as survivors of sexual violence. They hold a PhD in Human Development and Family Studies from Michigan State University (2022), an MS from Oklahoma State University (2016), and a BA from Texas A&M University (2014).
Research Interests:
- Preventing sexual/intimate partner violence
- Social media and technology’s dual role in violence and help-seeking
- Male survivors of sexual violence
- Mixed-methods violence research
Professional Activities:
- Editorial Board Member, APA’s Psychology of Men and Masculinities
- Grants include a $75k project on technology-facilitated abuse (2024-2026)
- Service roles: AmeriCorps Survivor Link advisor, LGBTQIA+ curriculum developer
