Monty Minter, Ph.D., CPC, is a Teaching Assistant Professor of Counselor Education and Clinic Director of the Downing Counseling Clinic at the University of Nevada, Reno. Her work bridges clinical practice and research in rural mental health, trauma-informed counseling, and social justice.

Minter has extensive clinical experience in trauma-focused treatment, including roles at the Southern Virginia Child Advocacy Center and as a former Clinic Coordinator at the Downing Counseling Clinic. She is licensed as a Clinical Professional Counselor and actively participates in professional organizations like the American Counseling Association and Association for Death Education and Counseling.
Her commitment to social justice is evident in her advocacy for equity in counselor education. Outside academia, she enjoys traveling, attending sporting events, and community engagement with her husband.
