Monta Matisāne serves as an Acting Researcher at Rīga Stradiņš University, actively contributing to research on occupational health, work-life balance, and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on working conditions in Latvia. Her work spans multiple European Commission-funded projects and national research initiatives focused on workplace wellbeing and organizational health.
Her research interests center on psychosocial hazards in the workplace, remote work dynamics, and work-life balance challenges within the Latvian context. Matisāne investigates how workplace conflicts, rivalry, and harassment affect employee wellbeing, with particular attention to physical health outcomes like musculoskeletal disorders and sleep disturbances among teleworkers during the pandemic era.
Analysis of her recent publications reveals a consistent focus on quantitative and qualitative examination of workplace dynamics in Latvia. Her research demonstrates how occupational safety measures impact teleworker health, how workplace conflicts manifest in physical symptoms, and how pandemic conditions reshaped occupational health practices. The work consistently applies Latvian-specific contexts to broader European occupational health frameworks.
Matisāne participates in several significant research projects including:
- BALANCE4LV research: Assessing and Enhancing Work-Life Balance in the Latvian Context (European Commission, 2024-2026)
- Healthy and Resilient Mindset with an Organized, Nurturing, and Digital Workplace for You (Erasmus+, 2025-2027)
- Development of Human Biomonitoring program for Latvia - HBM4LV (Latvian Council of Science, 2023-2025)
- Well@SME: Mental Wellbeing in SMEs (European Commission, 2022-2024)
Her research activities include conference presentations on work-life balance in remote work, sleep disorders among teleworkers, and the interplay between psychosocial work environments and work-life balance, demonstrating active engagement with both academic and practical applications of her findings.
