Monsheel Sodhi, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Molecular Pharmacology and Therapeutics at the Stritch School of Medicine, Loyola University Chicago. She holds a PhD in Biochemistry from King's College London and completed postdoctoral training at Oxford University and Vanderbilt University. Her research focuses on translating molecular neuroscience discoveries to understand psychiatric disorders, particularly suicide mechanisms. Key areas include RNA editing abnormalities, glutamatergic pathways, and biomarker identification for psychotropic drug efficacy and side effects.
Dr. Sodhi's laboratory investigates the impact of prenatal stress on neurodevelopmental trajectories and employs postmortem brain tissue analysis to study psychiatric disorders. She serves on the editorial boards of journals such as Journal of Addiction and Neuropharmacology and contributes to tissue review panels for brain banks. Her work has been recognized with awards from the National Alliance for Research in Schizophrenia and Depression, the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology, and others.
