Monique Moffa is a Lecturer in Criminology & Justice Studies at RMIT University and a PhD candidate at Monash University. She leads RMIT's work-integrated learning (WIL) program and co-leads the Bridge of Hope Innocence Initiative (BOHII), focusing on wrongful conviction cases and criminal justice reform. Her research explores women’s experiences in plea negotiations, parole policy, and systemic injustices.
Education: PhD Candidate (Criminology), Monash University; Prior academic roles include Associate Lecturer at RMIT (2020–2024).
Research Interests: Wrongful convictions, plea bargaining dynamics, gender in criminal justice, and innocence advocacy. Her recent publications highlight victim-survivor misidentification in domestic violence cases and the role of innocence projects in education.
Grants & Advising: Collaborates with legal practitioners and advocacy groups on reforms. Notable projects include BOHII’s exoneration advocacy and WIL curriculum development.
Labs/Teams: Active in BOHII and the RMIT Criminology & Justice Studies team.
