Monique Meunier

Monique Meunier is an Associate Professor at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB), affiliated with the Theater & Dance department. She holds roles as a ballet master, choreographer, and faculty member, with notable experience in professional dance companies including New York City Ballet, American Ballet Theater, and Complexions Contemporary Ballet. Her expertise spans classical and contemporary dance, choreography, and dance education.

Education & Career:

• Full scholarship to School of American Ballet (NYC) at age 15
• Principal dancer with New York City Ballet (1997)
• Member of American Ballet Theater (2002–2007)
• Choreographer for Lake Placid Arts Center and The Columbia Collaborative

Teaching & Leadership: She has served as ballet master for Washington Ballet, director of the Trainee Program at The School of Washington Ballet, and permanent adjudicator for Youth American Grand Prix. In 2016, she joined the inaugural Alumni Advisory Committee on Diversity and Inclusion at School of American Ballet.

Labs/Teams: Engaged with dance education initiatives and diversity advocacy through UCSB and external collaborations.
