Monique Ingalls is an Associate Professor of Music and the Ammann Chair of Church Music and Worship at Baylor University, where she directs Research and Graduate Programs in Church Music Education. Her academic work bridges music studies, anthropology, and theology to explore Christian congregational music, gospel traditions, and digital religious culture.

Her research focuses on the role of congregational music in community creation, boundary formation, and global Pentecostalism, with a particular emphasis on digital culture. She has co-founded the international Christian Congregational Music: Local and Global Perspectives conference and serves as senior series editor for Routledge’s Congregational Music Studies book series.
Dr. Ingalls has received multiple awards, including a 2023 Franklin Research Grant from the American Philosophical Society and a 2019 NEH Summer Stipend. Her publications span ethnomusicology, media studies, and religious studies, highlighting interdisciplinary approaches to worship music.
