Monika Popova

Prof. Monika Popova, PhD, is a Professor in the Department of Fine Arts at New Bulgarian University, with 25 years of teaching experience. She is the founder of the Ceramic and Porcelain specialization, including digital forms, and holds a PhD in Egyptology. Her work bridges ceramics, drawing, painting, and 3D technologies.

Research interests include ceramic art, 3D printing applications in art, emotional materiality, and Egyptological themes. Her exhibitions often explore abstract forms, psychological symbolism, and interdisciplinary narratives.

Scientific awards span 1998–2023, including first prizes from St. Cyril and Methodius Foundation and the French Academy of Arts. She has led collaborative projects with institutions like Vilnius University and BITUEN firm.

She created the Ceramic 3D Printing Lab at NBU in 2017 and founded the UPIS Ceramic Atelier in 2010. Her publications and exhibitions address themes like pain, color psychology, and technological integration in traditional crafts.
