Monika Nowak serves as a university professor in the Department of Labor Law, Social Security and Social Policy at the Faculty of Law and Administration, University of Lodz. She also leads the Inter-Faculty Research Center on Violence in the Workplace at the University of Lodz.
She graduated from the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Lodz. In 2004, she earned her PhD in Law with a dissertation titled "The Right to Fair Remuneration for Work" and was appointed as an assistant professor. In 2019, she achieved her habilitation (postdoctoral degree) in law.
Professor Nowak's research focuses primarily on individual labor law, with specific expertise in work remuneration, vacation leave, and professional burnout. Her work extends to analyzing compliance of Polish labor law with EU regulations, particularly regarding employer information obligations and protection of employee claims in cases of employer insolvency. She has authored expert reports for the European Commission on these matters.
She has been actively teaching since 2001, delivering lectures, tutorials, seminars, and proseminars in labor law across full-time, part-time, and postgraduate programs. Professor Nowak has served as a supervisor for diploma theses and as the disciplinary ombudsman for PhD students for many years. She also acts as the supervisor of the Career Office at the Faculty of Law and Administration.
