Monika Musilek-Hofer is a Professor of Natural Sciences at the University College of Teacher Education Vienna (PH Wien), with a specialization in research-based and exploratory learning. Since September 2023, she leads the Competence Center for MINT and Digitality cooperatively. She has held her professorship since January 2021. Her career includes extensive experience in mathematics and physics education, curriculum development, and school management. Previously, she taught at the Bildungsanstalt für Kindergartenpädagogik in Pressbaum and contributed to national education initiatives like the Austrian exams development (bifie).
Her research focuses on mathematics didactics, particularly exploratory learning from elementary to secondary education, and MINT (Mathematics, Informatics, Natural Sciences, Technology) pedagogy. She also leads initiatives like the House of Mathematics, promoting hands-on learning.
Her professional background includes roles as a School Quality Process Manager, curriculum co-developer for applied mathematics, and administrator for research initiatives. She holds a doctorate in technical sciences from TU Wien (1995–2002) and completed advanced qualifications in gifted education (Nijmegen, Netherlands) and educational management.
