Monika Michálková, PhD, is a Researcher at the Department of Glass Processing within the Joint Glass Centre (Vitrum Laugaricio – VILA) at Alexander Dubček University of Trenčín. Her work focuses on advanced ceramic materials development through European and national projects including Horizon 2020's FunGlass and multiple VEGA/APVV grants.
Her research spans transparent ceramics, glass-ceramics, and ceramic composites with emphasis on viscous flow sintering, corrosion mechanisms, and graphene integration. Key projects include Sciex NMS (as project leader for Si3N4/CNF composites) and VEGA 2/0028/21 on ion-exchange strengthened glass-ceramics.
Analysis of her publications reveals specialization in YAG systems, alumina processing, and nanocomposite reinforcement, with significant contributions to low-temperature sintering techniques and mechanical property optimization. Her work consistently targets high-impact applications in lighting, structural components, and energy-efficient technologies.
Scientific Awards:
- 2021: Slovak Ministry of Education Award for Science Team of the Year (ceramic-graphene composites)
She serves as PhD supervisor in the university's doctoral program for Inorganic Technologies and Materials, with research stays at EMPA Switzerland (2016-2017) and University of Muenster (2011). Her professional activities include secretary of the Slovak Glass Society and membership in the Slovak Silicate Society. Current projects involve Horizon Europe's CLiCAM and EVERGLASS initiatives focusing on sustainable glass-ceramic development.
