Dr. Monika Lee is a Professor in the Department of English and Writing Studies at Western University. She holds a PhD from Western University (1992), an MA from the same institution (1986), and a BA in Honours French and English from the University of Toronto (1985). Her research focuses on European Romanticism, particularly the works of Percy Bysshe Shelley, and Canadian literature. She has authored two poetry books, including gravity loves the body (2008) and If water breathes (2019), as well as poetry chapbooks, short fiction, a stage play, a libretto, and numerous literary journal contributions. Dr. Lee has served as Chair of Brescia University College’s School of Humanities and received Brescia’s Award for Excellence in Teaching.
Her research interests extend beyond literature to include domestic violence prevention, risk assessment, and survivor narratives. She has contributed to studies on familial homicide patterns, rural community challenges in domestic violence cases, and the impact of the pandemic on vulnerable populations. Her work bridges literary analysis with critical social issues, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches.
