Monika Gesing serves as a Research Associate at the Institute of Educational Science within the Faculty of Philosophy and Education at Ruhr University Bochum. Since April 2025, she has contributed to the Qualify project under Prof. Sandra Aßmann, Prof. Henrike Terhart, and Dr. Catharina Keßler, focusing on developing a teaching and research platform for qualitative research skills acquisition.
Her academic background includes:

- Combined Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in Educational Science
Research Interests: Gesing specializes in non-formal and informal learning environments, investigating social spaces where learning occurs outside traditional educational settings. Her work emphasizes contextual qualitative methodologies within educational science, particularly examining how physical and social spaces facilitate experiential knowledge transfer.
She has received recognition through the German Academic Scholarship Foundation Fellowship.
Within the Social Spaces and Places of Non-Formal and Informal Learning research group, she collaborates with doctoral candidates and research staff on interdisciplinary projects exploring learning in community centers, cultural institutions, and digital environments.
