Monica Shiakou

Monica Shiakou is an Associate Professor at the European University Cyprus, affiliated with the School of Humanities, Social and Education Sciences and the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences. She also serves as a Lecturer at the Cyprus Police. Her academic work spans educational psychology, child development, and public health interventions, with a focus on bullying prevention, play behavior, and sports-related violence.

Her research explores attachment theory, bullying dynamics, and digital tools for behavioral change, particularly in sports and educational contexts. Recent projects address gender stereotypes in sports and evidence-based interventions for child wellbeing.

Scientific contributions include formative research on physical activity and dietary interventions (IDEFICS study) and experiential workshops for over 100 children. She has led the "Beat Bullying" campaign and consulted on school violence frameworks.
