Monica Moran is an Adjunct Associate Professor at The University of Western Australia's School of Allied Health, with adjunct roles at Queensland University of Technology, Central Queensland University, and the University of Derby (UK). Her work focuses on interprofessional education (IPE), rural health workforce development, and healthcare collaboration. She contributed to the WHO Framework for Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Practice (2010) and leads national projects on IPE governance in Australia. She previously directed the HealthFusion Team Challenge, expanding it into an international event.
Her research emphasizes rural healthcare systems, integrated care competencies, and Indigenous health equity. Key projects include evaluating interprofessional team programs for vulnerable communities and analyzing healthcare staff experiences during the pandemic. She supervises students in health professional education and occupational therapy.
Monica has been involved in three funded grants: 'Conversations for Change' (family violence prevention), 'Integrated Chronic Disease Care Evaluation' (primary health), and a rural prewriting skills initiative. She chairs national IPE sustainability initiatives and serves as Immediate Past President of ANZAHPE, a leading health professional education organization.
Her work aligns with UN SDG 3 (Good Health) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), addressing rural healthcare disparities and Indigenous health equity through curriculum innovation and workforce development.
