Monica Letourneau is a Professor of Interior Design at Savannah College of Art and Design, where she has taught since 2002. She previously served as Graduate Coordinator (2010-2022) and Department Chair (2005-2009). Her educational background includes an M.F.A. in Interior Design from SCAD and a B.A. in Historic Preservation from Roger Williams University.
Her research focuses on sustainable design, historic preservation, non-Western architecture, and healthcare/educational facilities. She explores how cultural contexts influence spatial design solutions.
Prof. Letourneau has received multiple awards for her scholarly work including Faculty Sabbatical Awards for research on sustainable building design and non-Western architecture. She maintains professional certifications (NCIDQ, LEED AP ID+C) and participates in industry organizations:
- International Interior Designers Association (IIDA)
- Interior Design Educators Council (IDEC)
- American Society of Interior Designers (ASID)
- U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC)
With extensive professional experience, she has designed for firms including Cooper Carry Architects and Hansen Architects, specializing in corporate, educational, and healthcare projects.
