She specializes in precision medicine for cardiometabolic conditions, particularly type 2 diabetes in South Asian populations. Her work focuses on ancestry comparisons, young-onset diabetes, and multi-omics approaches. She leads the Genes & Health cohort in East London and co-leads the India-Scotland Partnership for Precision Medicine in Diabetes (INSPIRED). She also serves as Associate Director of the Health Data in Practice PhD program and is a Fellow of the Digital Environment Research Institute (DERI).
Her research integrates genetic, clinical, and environmental data to address health disparities. Key collaborations include the NIHR School for Primary Care Research and the Madras Diabetes Research Foundation. Her expertise spans pharmacogenetics, statin intolerance, and the genetic architecture of diabetes onset across diverse populations.
Recent studies highlight her focus on ethnic variations in diabetes risk factors, polygenic risk scores for precision interventions, and barriers to exercise in diabetes management. She has advised on national diabetes policies and collaborates globally to advance population health and precision medicine strategies.
