Molly Sergi is a full-time Professor in the Department of History at Kent State University's Geauga Campus, serving as the lead faculty in History there. She holds a primary affiliation with the College of Arts & Sciences and is based at 850 Lester A Levy Blvd, Kent, OH 44242-0001. Her research focuses on 19th century America, colonial history, Ohio history, and modern US history, with a strong emphasis on social history topics such as minority groups, race-ethnicity dynamics, and gender studies.
Her research portfolio includes studies on World War One battlefields, war commemoration, collective behavior, and material culture. Recent work includes the analysis of Emily Nash's journal as a historical document and collaborations with the Century Village Museum on Civil War attire. Over the past four years, she has secured five grants from the Kent Teaching Council and Geauga Research Council to support her academic activities.
Dr. Sergi actively engages in professional presentations, including a talk at the WWI conference at Georgian Court University (NJ) and a session on war history at the National Council for History Education in San Antonio (TX). She integrates public history initiatives into her academic work, bridging academic research with community engagement.
Her advising and grant activities are central to her role, with ongoing projects addressing war memory and social history.
