Molly S. Hermiller serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology and Program in Neuroscience at Florida State University, where she directs the Hermiller Lab focused on neural mechanisms of human cognition and memory.
Her research investigates the spatial and temporal dynamics of brain networks supporting episodic memory, with special emphasis on hippocampal-cortical interactions. The lab employs functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) to map memory-related brain activity and connectivity patterns, complemented by transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) to causally test network functions. Key research themes include memory formation, consolidation, and retrieval processes that enable humans to store information, integrate life experiences, and mentally reconstruct past events.
The Hermiller Lab actively recruits graduate students (with positions available for Fall 2026) and research participants through confidential online screening. Current projects explore theta-burst stimulation, simultaneous TMS-MRI integration, and network-targeted brain stimulation techniques to advance understanding of memory systems.
