Dr. Molly George is a Professor in the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice at California Lutheran University's College of Arts and Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from UC Santa Barbara and teaches courses including Research Methods and Statistics, Criminology, and Race, Ethnicity, Gender, and Crime.
Education:
- B.A. from University of Denver
- M.A. and Ph.D. in Sociology from UC Santa Barbara
Research Interests: Dr. George's research spans Criminology, Sociology of Crime, Gender and Crime, Race and Crime, Policing (including police body cameras), Deviance, and the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning. Her work also extends to the sociology of work, sport, and gender.
Scientific Awards:
- Dean’s Award for Scholarship and Creative Work (College of Arts and Sciences, Cal Lutheran, 2020)
Advising and Grants: Dr. George serves as a faculty mentor for the Criminal Justice Student Association and co-advisor for the Women’s Intercollegiate Soccer team. She has secured multiple grants including six Culver Fellowships for faculty-student research, an external grant from the Ventura Council of Governments for the Safe Passage evaluation, and currently leads a research team evaluating Domestic Violence services at the Ventura County Family Justice Center post-COVID-19.
Research Teams: She leads a research team focused on domestic violence and the Family Justice Center in Ventura County.
