Molly Dondero is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at American University, with affiliations at the Center on Health Risk and Society and the Center for Latin American and Latino Studies. She holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of Texas at Austin (2014), an MA in Latin American Studies from the University of Florida (2008), and a BA in Spanish and English from Pennsylvania State University (2004). Her research focuses on immigration, race/ethnicity, social class, and place as contributors to population-level health disparities in the U.S. and Latin America. Current projects include studies on state-level immigration policies and healthcare utilization, and the dietary assimilation of Mexican children in immigrant households.
Her work has been published in top journals such as Social Forces, Demography, and Journal of Health and Social Behavior. Key awards include a NIH NICHD Postdoctoral Fellowship (2014–2016) and Russell Sage Foundation Migration Research Methods training (2019). She currently leads grants on immigrant integration and reproductive health responses to infectious disease crises in Brazil.
