Chinyere Agbai is an Assistant Professor & Provost’s Early Career Scholar in the Department of Sociology at The Ohio State University. Her research focuses on the interplay between urban inequality, racial wealth gaps, and health disparities, with an emphasis on housing policy and structural racism. She holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from Brown University and a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Pennsylvania.
Her work has been funded by the Russell Sage Foundation, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Health Policy Research Scholars Program, and NIH NICHD. Key research areas include the social determinants of health, public policy impacts on wealth, and historical redlining effects on health outcomes.
Notable achievements include the Dorothy S. Thomas Student Paper Award from the Population Association of America. Her scholarship bridges sociology, public health, and urban studies to address systemic inequities in homeownership, health, and socioeconomic mobility.
