Dr. Mohsen Sayyah is a Researcher at Loughborough University's School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences, affiliated with the National Centre for Sport and Exercise Medicine. He holds a PhD in Sports Biomechanics (2018) from Loughborough University, following an MSc in Sports Engineering (2012, Sheffield Hallam University) and a BEng in Mechanical Engineering (2009, Iran). His research focuses on occupational health for heavy goods vehicle (HGV) drivers, sleep patterns, cardiovascular health, and physical activity monitoring in transportation sectors.
Key research interests include:
- Health interventions for truck drivers (e.g., the SHIFT trial)
- Cab vibration effects on physical activity metrics
- Cardiovascular reactivity and fatigue management
- Sleep variability and its occupational impacts
- Environmental influences on driver well-being
His work bridges biomechanics and occupational medicine, with a focus on improving health outcomes for professional drivers through ergonomic design and behavioral interventions. Recent studies highlight correlations between cardiovascular reactivity and mental health symptoms, as well as the protective role of nature exposure in reducing fatigue.
He is actively involved in cluster randomized controlled trials (e.g., the SHIFT trial) evaluating multicomponent health programs. His research also extends to sports biomechanics, particularly analyzing diving kinematics and performance optimization.
