Mohsen Mosleh is an Associate Professor in Social Data Science at the Oxford Internet Institute (OII), University of Oxford, and a Governing Body Fellow at Wolfson College. He is also a research affiliate at MIT Sloan School of Management. He holds a PhD in Engineering (with a minor in Data Science) from MIT, following five years as a Systems and Software Integration Lead. His research bridges computational science and cognitive psychology, focusing on misinformation dynamics, social media networks, and digital field experiments.
Research Interests: His work examines how misinformation spreads on social platforms, partisan bias in network formation, and strategies to combat online harm. Notable contributions include studies on politically asymmetric sanctions for misinformation sharing and the role of social ties in engaging with corrections.
Publications & Impact: His work appears in top journals like Nature, Nature Communications, and PNAS, and has been featured in major media (e.g., Washington Post, Financial Times). Recent studies highlight how social connections—rather than political alignment—drive engagement with corrections, and how shared partisanship amplifies social tie formation on platforms like Twitter.
