Mohammed Abouzaid is a Professor of Mathematics at Stanford University, joining the department in 2023. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago (2007) and previously served as a Clay Research Fellow at MIT. His research focuses on structures arising from Floer theory on symplectic manifolds and their applications, with key interests in topology, symplectic geometry, and mirror symmetry.
Education:
- Ph.D. in Mathematics, University of Chicago, 2007
Research Interests: Explores foundational questions in symplectic topology, including homological mirror symmetry for toric varieties and applications of Floer theory. His work bridges geometric and algebraic frameworks, contributing to advancements in both pure and applied topology.
Awards:
- Invited Speaker at the International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM 2014)
- New Horizons in Mathematics Prize (2017)
Advising & Grants: Advisor to doctoral students in geometry and topology. His early career included a prestigious Clay Research Fellowship (post-Ph.D.), supporting foundational work in symplectic geometry.
