Mohammad Qandil

Dr. Mohammad Qandil is a Researcher and Assistant Director of the Industrial Assessment Center (IAC) at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM), funded by the U.S. Department of Energy to promote energy efficiency and sustainable manufacturing. He holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from UWM, where his dissertation focused on optimizing water turbine efficiency by minimizing air pocket formation. Dr. Qandil is also a Senior Energy Engineer at Tetra Tech and has prior experience in HVAC engineering roles with PETRA Engineering and Therma-Stor. His research interests include renewable energy technologies, energy efficiency, decarbonization, and polymer composites.

Dr. Qandil's education includes a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from UWM (dissertation: water turbine efficiency), an MSc in Mechanical Engineering/Energy Systems from Hashemite University (Jordan), and a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from Al-Balqa' Applied University (Jordan).

His research focuses on optimizing renewable energy systems, hydro-turbine performance, and energy sustainability in wastewater treatment plants. Notable projects include vascular self-healing wind turbine blades using nanocomposites and net-zero energy models for WWTPs. He actively contributes to energy audits for industries through the IAC and holds certifications as a Certified Energy Manager and Certified Measurement & Verification Professional.

Professional involvement includes membership in ASHRAE, the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE), and the Arab American Association of Engineers and Architects (AAAEA).
