معرفی
Dr. Mohammad Omary is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of North Texas (UNT), specializing in inorganic and materials chemistry. His research focuses on designing fluorous metal-organic frameworks (FMOFs) for applications in hydrogen storage, hydrocarbon separation, catalysis, and environmental remediation. With laboratory facilities at UNT's Department of Chemistry (1155 Union Circle #305070, Denton, TX), he leads an active research group investigating advanced materials for energy and environmental challenges.
His research interests center on inorganic materials design, particularly fluorous metal-organic frameworks (FMOFs) exhibiting superhydrophobicity and high volumetric capacity for guest molecules. Key application areas include
- Hydrogen and hydrocarbon storage
- Gas mixture separation under high humidity
- Thermal expansion control in crystalline materials
- Catalysis and oil spill containment
- Water purification systems
- Photoluminescent sensors for environmental monitoring
Analysis of his recent publications (2023-2025) reveals a strong focus on gas adsorption in modified FMOFs (particularly CO2 and CH4), coinage metal cluster chemistry for luminescent materials, and environmental applications including nanoparticle-based pollutant remediation. His research increasingly integrates computational modeling with experimental validation, especially in gas separation systems.
Scientific recognition includes:
- NSF CAREER Award (2004)
- I-APS Young Investigator Award from the Inter-American Photochemical Society (2006)
Dr. Omary's group actively engages in interdisciplinary research with applications in lighting technology (developing eco-friendly white light systems), environmental monitoring (aluminum ion sensors), and biomedical applications (photothermal therapy using gold complexes). His team has achieved notable success in national competitions including the Siemens Competition, with student research on mercury detection gaining significant recognition.
