Prof. Mohammad Omar serves as Professor of Management Science and Engineering at Khalifa University since 2012, previously holding founding faculty roles at Clemson University's CUICAR technology park and automotive engineering programs. He currently directs the Digital Supply Chain and Operations Management Center while maintaining active research leadership.
His educational background includes degrees from the University of Kentucky and the University of Jordan.
Dr. Omar's research integrates production systems with sustainability imperatives, focusing on eco-material design, digital supply chain transformation, and socio-technical impacts of automation on workforce evolution. His current projects develop predictive analytics for supply chain optimization, borderless digital operations frameworks, and data-driven models forecasting educational needs in Industry 4.0 environments.
His contributions have been recognized with:
- SAE Foundation Manufacturing Award
- Murray Stokely Excellence Award
- SME Richard L. Kegg Manufacturing Award
He has supervised 11 PhD graduates (six now in academic positions) with research supported by grants establishing the US Department of Energy GATE center and iSmart research center. Current funding drives his Digital Supply Chain Center's industry partnerships.
He leads the Socio-Technical Systems Lab and directs institutional research centers developing human-centered digital transformation frameworks for manufacturing ecosystems.
