Mohammad Golam Sarwar is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Law, University of Dhaka, where he teaches environmental law (currently on leave). He is also a Doctoral Researcher at SOAS University of London, focusing on climate law and eco-development with a Commonwealth Scholarship.
Education:
- LLB & LLM from Dhaka University
- LLM in International Development Law and Human Rights from the University of Warwick
Research Interests: Rights of nature, alternatives to development, climate law, development law, business and human rights, climate litigation, sustainable investment, and SDGs. His work explores how rights of nature frameworks and anti-development paradigms can address the climate crisis in developing countries, particularly Bangladesh.
UN & Government Engagement: He has worked extensively as a Research Consultant with UN agencies (UNDP, UN Women, UNICEF, ILO, IDLO, UNHCR, UNODC) on law and development, business and human rights, environmental regulation, and SDGs. He has contributed to policymaking with Bangladeshi ministries, including Environment and Climate Change, Law and Justice, and Foreign Affairs.

Publications & Editorial Work: He has authored over 20 peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters with publishers like Routledge, Springer Nature, and Brill-Nijhoff on international law, environmental law, and human rights. He also served as Editor of the Law & Our Rights page at The Daily Star (Bangladesh's largest English daily).
