Mohammad Azizian

Mohammad Azizian serves as a Research Fellow in the Department of Chemical, Biological, and Environmental Engineering within the College of Engineering at Oregon State University.

His educational background includes:

• M.S. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Tehran (1983)
• B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Tehran (1978)

Dr. Azizian's research centers on environmental engineering chemistry, with significant contributions to physical-chemical and biological treatment processes for remediating contaminated soils and groundwater. He has pioneered in-situ aquifer characterization using the single-well push-pull method and developed slow-release compounds for aerobic cometabolic treatment of complex contaminant mixtures. His technical expertise spans advanced analytical instrumentation including GC-MS, LC-MS, and HPLC systems.

His work extends to real-world applications such as tracking antibiotic resistance in urban waterways, as demonstrated in his study of Ho Chi Minh City's canals, and community-focused environmental engineering projects.
