Dr. Mohamed Elsayed is a Lecturer in Accounting at Queen's Business School (QBS), Queen's University Belfast. He holds a PhD in Accounting and Finance from the University of Bristol and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). His research focuses on corporate governance, ESG disclosures, corporate failure prediction, textual analysis, and external auditing. He is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Financial Reporting and Accounting (Scopus Q1) and sits on the Academic Advisory Panel of the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the UK.
His teaching includes courses on Accounting Information Systems and Contemporary Technologies in Accounting at the undergraduate level, and Research Methods and Techniques in the MSc Accounting and Finance program. He actively supervises PhD students exploring intersections between market-based accounting research and quantitative methods.
Key research themes include board diversity's impact on disclosures, textual analysis of risk communication, and audit quality. His work targets top-tier journals (ABS 3/4*, ABDC A) and has been presented globally at conferences like AAA (USA), EAA (Europe), and BAFA (UK). Recent studies examine managerial disclosures preceding bankruptcy, board gender dynamics in acquisitions, and internal control quality under COSO 2013 frameworks.
Dr. Elsayed has received the STAR Scheme Performance Award 2021/22 for academic contributions. He chairs Queen's Accounting Department's Student Voice Committee and coordinates student representative activities, reflecting his commitment to pedagogical innovation and student engagement.
