Mohamed Ali Hafez, also known as Mo Hafez, is a Lecturer in the MS in Energy Policy and Climate program at Johns Hopkins University, based at the Hopkins Bloomberg Center in Washington, D.C. He brings over 15 years of experience in the tech industry, having led transformative projects for Fortune 500 companies in AI, cloud migration, cybersecurity, and network optimization.
He holds an MBA in Executive Leadership from James Madison University, which complements his interdisciplinary approach to teaching and innovation.
His academic and professional focus centers on:
- Energy Policy – exploring sustainable and equitable energy systems
- Environmental Studies – integrating climate science with policy
- GIS – using geospatial tools for environmental and energy analysis
- Ethical AI – promoting responsible and inclusive technology
As the founder and CEO of ByteWise LLC, a corporate training company, Hafez leads initiatives to advance digital literacy and ethical AI adoption. He also hosts the podcast Beyond the Byte, where he interviews global thought leaders on technology, ethics, and society.
At Johns Hopkins, he is actively involved in designing courses that merge technical expertise with ethical insight, preparing students to tackle global challenges with integrity and innovation. He is also a member of the Association of AI Ethicists, contributing to global discourse on responsible AI.
