Mohamed Abdallah is a Research Fellow in the Department of Animal and Rangeland Sciences at Oregon State University. With a PhD and MSc in Rangeland Ecology and Management and an MSc in Soil Science, he specializes in restoring degraded arid ecosystems through rangeland management, soil health improvement, and water dynamics analysis.
- B.Sc. (2008) - Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences, Omar Al-Mukhtar University, Libya
- M.Sc. (2013) - Rangeland Ecology and Management, Oregon State University
- M.Sc. (2017) - Soil Science, Oregon State University
- PhD (2019) - Rangeland Ecology and Management, Oregon State University
His research integrates plant ecophysiology, carbon sequestration, and watershed hydrology to address challenges like salinity, groundwater decline, and woody plant encroachment. His work provides policymakers with data-driven strategies for sustainable land use.
Recent publications focus on western juniper ecohydrology, carbon/nitrogen stocks, and water management in drylands. Key trends include paired-watershed studies, juniper encroachment impacts, and climate resilience in rangelands.
- 2024 - Hydrology: Sagebrush water uptake and semiarid ecosystem dynamics
- 2023 - Hydrology: Seasonal transpiration patterns of juniper saplings
- 2022 - Agriculture Ecosystems & Environment: Carbon recovery in abandoned croplands
Awards:
- Oregon Beef Council funding for juniper water use research
- LNASP scholarships (2010-2019) for academic excellence in Libya and the U.S.
