Mohamad Hassoun is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Wayne State University, Detroit, MI. He received all his degrees (B.S., M.S., Ph.D.) in Electrical Engineering from Wayne State University in 1981, 1982, and 1986 respectively.
- Founded the Computation and Neural Networks Laboratory
- Served as Interim Chair (1994-1995)
- Co-Editor-in-Chief of Neural Processing Letters (since 1998)
Research Interests: Dr. Hassoun specializes in artificial neural networks, focusing on associative memories, pattern recognition, and machine learning. His work applies neural networks to physiologic signal processing, optimization, and control systems. He has contributed to optical computing research and authored foundational texts like Associative Neural Memories (Oxford, 1993) and Fundamentals of Artificial Neural Networks (MIT Press, 1995).
Scientific Awards: Recipient of the
