Mogens Grønvold serves as Professor in Palliative Care and Patient-Reported Outcomes Assessment at the University of Copenhagen's Department of Public Health (Section of Health Services Research) while concurrently holding a 50% appointment as Consultant and Head of the Palliative Care Research Unit at Bispebjerg Hospital's Department of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine. His dual academic-clinical role has positioned him as a leading international figure in palliative care research and quality assessment.
His primary research focuses on three interconnected domains: health services research concerning palliative care delivery systems, cancer patients' subjective experiences of disease and treatment, and the rigorous development/validation of patient-completed questionnaires for symptom and quality-of-life assessment. This work has directly informed national healthcare strategies including Denmark's Clinical Guidelines for Rehabilitation and Palliative Care.
Analysis of his recent publications (2025) reveals a strong emphasis on cross-disease symptom comparison, dyadic intervention models for patients and caregivers, and the development of unified quality-of-life assessment systems across the cancer continuum. His work consistently bridges methodological innovation with practical clinical implementation, particularly through digital health platforms.
