Modeste Daye is a researcher at the University of Namur, Belgium, specializing in development economics and microeconometrics. His work bridges theoretical econometrics with practical policy applications in low-income contexts, focusing on household financial behavior and poverty reduction mechanisms.
He earned his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Namur's Centre of Research in the Economics of Development (CRED) and Development Finance and Public Policies institute (DeFiPP) in 2020. Prior academic credentials include an advanced master in international and development economics from the University of Namur and a master of research (MRes) in economics from Toulouse School of Economics (TSE), France.
His research program centers on three active projects: (i) impact evaluation of nudging interventions for formal deposit/mobile money adoption, (ii) gender-disaggregated analysis of cash transfer effects, and (iii) credit constraint dynamics in agricultural productivity and welfare. These investigations contribute directly to UN Sustainable Development Goals targeting poverty eradication and economic inclusion.
Publication trends reveal consistent output in development finance and behavioral microeconomics, with significant emphasis on micro-sized enterprise financing mechanisms and methodological contributions to econometric estimation. His work demonstrates strong policy relevance through partnerships with development institutions.
Dr. Daye maintains active research funding through projects including 'Can financial products reduce poverty and vulnerability?' (2016-2019) and 'Private resource mobilization' (2014-2017), both as Co-Investigator. His conference engagements span prestigious venues including the Econometric Society Africa meeting, Oxford Development Workshop, and International Association of Jesuit Business Schools forums.
