Mo Torres is Assistant Professor of Sociology and Public Policy at the University of Michigan. His research examines urban austerity, racial inequality, and Rust Belt decline. A former Detroit Public Schools teacher, Torres uses mixed methods to study political economy.
Current projects investigate fiscal crisis governance in Michigan. Recent publications deconstruct race-class dynamics and propose anti-racist frameworks. He teaches courses on race, place, and inequality.
