Mo Chen is an Associate Professor and Canada CIFAR AI Chair in the School of Computing Science at Simon Fraser University. His research focuses on robotics and safety-critical systems.
His educational background includes:
- PhD in Electrical Engineering and Computing Science from the University of California, Berkeley (2017)
- Bachelor of Applied Science in Engineering Physics (EE option) with a Mathematics Minor from the University of British Columbia (2011)
Dr. Chen's research interests span multi-robot systems, safety-critical systems, motion planning, control theory, computational methods, robotics, dynamical systems modeling, optimization, and numerical analysis. His work integrates advanced computational techniques to solve complex problems in robotics and autonomous systems.
He has received the following scientific awards:

At SFU, Dr. Chen teaches courses such as Machine Learning (CMPT 410, CMPT 726) and Special Research Projects (CMPT 415, CMPT 416).
